What do the Cycle Jacks do on the Smooth/Stepped Generator?

What do the Cycle Jacks do on the Smooth/Stepped Generator?

I know you can use the Cycle patched to the Input on the upper Smooth section of the SSG to turn it inot an oscillator but I cannot figure out what the one on the Stepped section does? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

well, the dirt simple answer is: you patch it just
like the smooth module... it's a start.After that
well, just use your imagination. LOL just be mindfull
of those rising edges.
