VCO's

Hello,
Back in the early 80's I had a Serge panel consisting of NTO, PCO,
VCFX, DSG, plus some VCA, can't remember the model today. This was
played by a Lyricon Wind Driver, I did very little tweaking and it
usually produced some fluegelhorn/subdued alto sax sound. I used it
entirely for live situations together with tenor sax, and clarinet in
a Bay Area band named "Young, White and Gifted". Though the sound was
good I was not at ease with the Lyricon, it produced lots of glitches
with the finger movements. The Lyricon was lost in a burglary, and
after a few years I sold the Serge panel, something I came to regret
dearly later. After a couple of years Serge put together another,
rather limited system with PRNV, UAP, EQ, VCFX, that I intended to
process external sounds with.
Having listened to recordings of my original setup with the YW&G I
realize it had a very nice and warm sound although unusual. Despite
the Lyricon problems it had "acoustic" qualities, and just listening
to it makes it hard to distingush it from an acoustic instrument. Now
in possesion of much better wind drivers I want to recreate some of
that old feeling with my existing tiny system. I need oscillators
(1xNTO, 1xPCO, and something like the DSG), but the times when you
could get individual modules seem to be gone. Again, since I want to
use this stuff on stage I neither can nor want to spend 3-4K$ on a
new one.
Is there somebody who can give me recommendations about other VCO's,
MOTM, Doepfer, perhaps. I also have digital ones within my Clavia
Nord Micro Modular, and the Yamaha PLG150-AN card. If somebody have
experiences from these I would be interested to hear comparisons with
analog ones.
