Forbidden Planet soundtrack

Regarding the Bebe Barron interview a couple weeks ago. I found it interesting and somewhat amusing that she said when asked what the main emotion the soundtrack music conjured up, she replied "fear". That but a big grin on my face. When i first saw that movie in '56 the whole thing brought up feelings of dread and fear and the music just inhanced that feeling. So i was wondering what listening to just the soundtrack would do now after all these years. So a couple nights ago i put the disk in to listen as i was paying bills around midnight. ( pretty wacked in itself huh) LOL... anyway, it's past midnight, the studio is in soft twilight, outside the wind is kickin' up a modest howl and the sound track to Forbidden Planet is coming out the speakers. I"m here to say gang that Bebe was right. The damn thing scared the hell out of me. By the time i got to the track where the monster attacks the ship, the hairs on my arms and neck were standing straight up. I was getting the creeps so bad i had to turn it off. No joke.
So i gotta say that the Barrons get the award for "emotional content". They succeded in making a body of music that will just terrify the crap out of you on a dark winters night.
kind regards
