Selling my 3 panel Serge

Selling my 3 panel Serge

2005-11-15 by sydilaxe

I have finally decided to sell my Serge system. I would consider partial trades of an EMS
Synthi or Modcan modules. It is comprised of the following:

1 Red Voice panel (circa 1998) STS
- NTO, PCO, NComp, Puls Div, Triple Waveshaper, Audio mix, X Fad, VarQ VCF (extended),
and UAP

1 CV-1 (circa 1998) STS
-Quantizer TKB, Dual ASR, DTG (with cycle), Random Source, SSG, CV pro, DSG, and
extended ADSR

1 Vintage (and unique panel) probably from the 1970s, printed paper face
- Triple Voltage Controlled filterbank, 24db filter, Matrix Mixer, and Mult/convertor

I have a PS4 (to power it) which can also handle a TKB or another panel.

I will also throw in a decent set of patchcords.

I would like $6000 for everything (plus shipping and handling of course). Please contact
me via e-mail if you are interested. I will not split up the system, and I am fairly firm on
the price.

What is this 24db VCF? I was under the impression that all Serge VCFs
were 12dB.

It sounds like a *very* early one...probably paper-faced.

BTW - the Variable Slope Filter can go up to about 18db / oct. I love it!

Ben,

I am interested in your system. Can you send some pics, particularly
of the older panel? Also, can you tell me mroe about the triple and
24db filters on this panel?

Thanks,

Chris

I'll bet the panel looks like the file I just uploaded. I've seen
photos of two such panels with identical layouts. Not only are
they "rare" but they also appear to be undocumented. It would not
surprise me to find out they are customs, perhaps built by someone
working for Serge at the time. For starters, the symbols on the jacks
are wrong, and the text is typewritten. What I'd like to know is which
standard Serge boards were used to make these.

Yes,

My panel has an identical layout to that panel. The filter might be 18db, it definitely
doesn't sound like a 12 to me. I looked at the boards, and it seems that three similar
filter boards are used in the triple filterbank. There are bandpass outputs for each filter,
as well as these four outputs (derived from the three): LP, BP, BP, HP. The sound of the
filterbank is non-resonant; however, you can get resonance with feedback patches. There
is VC over each filter as well as VC over all three simultaneously.
