[FS] Fenix

[FS] Fenix

2006-03-19 by not known

Hi folks,

once again I'm giving banana-jackers first crack at
this before I post it elsewhere. I'll post it to AH in
2-3 days if there are no bites from here.

it will pain me somewhat to part ways with my Fenix,
but that is mostly a sentimentality/rarity issue...
the truth of the matter is, I'm more into playing
guitar and bass these days and am just not using it
enough to justify the money that's tied up in it. so
I'll hang on to my Modcan for when the modular urges
strike, but tough love says the Fenix has to go.

that said, I won't be giving it away. you know what I
mean.

for those concerned with such things, this is the #12
out of the 75 that were made and I am the second
owner.

condition: cosmetically there's nothing wrong with it
aside from some slight scratches on the back of the
case. it's still in the same condition I bought it in.
functionally it has one of the issues that are common
to the Fenix, mainly a few scratchy pots. in talking
to other Fenix owners, this seems to be a common
problem with them and an issue you'll have to deal
with if you decide to buy it. I've only noticed a
problem with about 4 of the pots: Osc 1 coarse, Filter
3 Mix-input 2, Mix 1 and Mix 2 levels.

price: I'll leave it open to offers and take the first
one I find acceptable. if I don't get any acceptable
offers, I'll come back with a firm price.

payment terms: buyer will pay actual shipping costs.
payment method will be a bit of an issue. I'll
reluctantly take PayPal for it, if the buyer is
willing to add 6% to the final price. before anyone
chastizes me for the 6%, I'll explain it: my bank
gives me 3% better on exchanging from USD to CAD than
PayPal does. so the first 3% makes up for that if we
use PayPal. the other 3% is for PayPal's actual fees.
the alternative is to send me a Money Order/Draft
cashable in Canada, but in USD.

I'll ship Postal unless the buyer requests and pays
for something different.

I'll work out the minute details with you if I accept
your offer.

fire when ready ;-)

hopefully this won't end up on eBay.

thanks,
kevin

Kevin:

I am interested in a Fenix but really do not know what they go for.
Could, you say provide a range of approximate value for this unit? Just a
ballpark range. This would make it apparent wether I could afford the
instrument and should spend the time in researching the synth.

Thanks,

Bill

I'm not sure what our friend Kevin is hoping to get, though a little digging around on
Harmony Central reveals that in the last 5 years people have paid between $1500 and $1900 USD for
them. The developers of the system have stated repeatedly that they want to see these units being
USED by people, not sold as collectors items. Who knows? Maybe they have become rare vintage
items and can fetch ridiculous prices? I too would like Kevin to come forward with a solid price
of what he's hoping to get for this unit.

The last one I saw for sale (on this list, I think) went for $4500.

I bought mine in 2002 for $2500. IMHO, I would say that 3K is a fair offer. I'd guess its
worth at least 5K for comparable Serge modules. Maybe I'm crazy.. but I do love my Fenix.
