TKB question

TKB question

2006-09-19 by Tommy DOG

Forgive this "newbie" question..

I'm thinking about adding some Serge stuff to my modular set up and am curious about a
few things.

1. What can I expect to pay for a TKB?
I am assuming that one can buy from Rex Probe or used.

2. Does anyone use this interface with other modulars?

This looks like an ideal interface for me as I prefer non keyboards and am currently not
thrilled with my sequencer either.

FYI I am using a Moog modular, ARP 2600 and of course some Doepfer for street cred ;->

Thanks,
TD

HI Tommy

The TKB is fantastic, I am also going to buy a Plan B Milton when it
comes out :-)

As the TKB is banana it may be interesting plugging in your arp 2600,
moog etc.
I use the TKB with my Eurorack Plan B . Livewire and Doepfer but they
are all banana jacked!

Expect to pay $1300 - $1500 secondhand I think they are $1800 new?

Yeah I've read nice things about The Milton.

I figure the Dot Com Banana Jack interface should solve this.

Fair enough. A Moog is more and the ARPS have been creeping up.

I agree the TKB is truly one of the "king" of all sequencers. You can
configure it a number of ways (my fave is 4 different 1x16 sequencers)
and modulate it with itself, the touch keyboard, or outside sources
as well.

Just as a follow-up does anyone have a CURRENT Serge pricelist online?
From what I understand NEW TKBs are $2500-$3000 now?

hi how can you get it to run 4 different sequences>? I can used A B C
D but that only gives me 4 of the same sequence, and i can change the
pitch of notes.....

out of interest do new TKBs come with instructions?
If so please up them

I run out from the separate A, B, C, and D outputs not the combined
one. When I do this each row controls that one output row 1=A, row
2=B etc.

Oh HELL no lol. There are no instructions for Serge stuff outside of
that old PDF of the 80s manual online at the Egres site. I didn't know
what it did really until I started playing with it hands on even
though I read and looked at pictures of them for years.

My TKB was made sometime in the early/mid 90s I think. there is no
Wisconsin or other stamp on it but I think the case/boat may have been
switched at one point because mine is the deeper one and everyone I've
talked to says their TKB came in the shallow case which sits on a
table better.

Can anyone confirm or deny if TKBs come with a more shallow case? I
don't really want to open it up since it seems a bit tricky with the
touch plate holding the front row together. Mine does have the
quanitizer if that makes a difference.
