Where to buy Pomona patch cords?

Where to buy Pomona patch cords?

2008-03-07 by riluttante

All of my patch cables were stolen recently, so I need to replace them...

Rex at STS informed me that he's currently low on stock, so what other
places are there that sell the classic Pomona model B patch cord in
various colors and lengths?

I'm not finding them at Mouser or Allied Electronics, but maybe I'm
not looking right.

I really want to get the same Pomona model B molded cables that STS
initially sold me when I ordered my system, and I need to order
specific lengths and colors...

Any links or info would be highly appreciated...Thanks!

Thomas

You should be able to get them from Cynthia at cyndustries.com.
I *think* she has the list of canonical color/lengths as per the STS "standard", but if not, I have it around somewhere.
Her prices aren't bad, or weren't the last time I ordered a bunch of cables. But be warned, the Pomona cables are PRICEY!

cheers,
Bill

I just ordered a bunch from mouser a couple of weeks ago. You have to find them by the model numbers - if you look hard enough (I'm at work now, and can't dig this up) they have a document explaining how to construct the model number by the length and color. Their prices are pretty good, and you get a discount if you order 10+ of the same length/color.

    Thanks!

I'll check that out and see if she has the lengths and colors I need
    in stock.

I need to replace something like 100 cables, so cost definitely is an
    issue...

    Thank you!

Could you do me a favor and see if you can find the Mouser part
numbers on your invoice once you get the chance?

I've been scrolling through hundreds of results for the search "pomona
banana" but I can't seem to find these cables...

I don't still have the invoice, but I do have a printout of the document where they describe how to construct the model numbers. In case I forget, shoot me an email this evening (I'm on Pacific time) at implode7@... and I'll get you the info.

I'll look briefly online and see if I can find it, but as I recall it was a little tricky...

Yep, Test Path is where I get them, as well.

Re: Where to buy Pomona patch cords?

      2008-03-08 by Bill Sequeira

Anyone used those Cal Test cables featured in the site that Bakis
provided? Very inexpensive. I have looked at other off-brands but
most of them have been deficient in the mechanical aspects of the
banana metal contacts (not enough "grip"), so I have stayed away from
      them.

      Cheers -- Bill
