what the hell is this??

what the hell is this??

2001-06-09 by DarkStr717@aol.com

For the last 5 days I've seen nothing but whining and bitching and implied
defamation and just the sort of anal rubbish that drove me off the AH list
and that i thought would not appear here. Wrong again!! rats!!
I thought this was going to be the place to swap patches, offer suggestions
for problems, share stories, offer a little theory for those of us not so
technically inclined, share system layouts and just generaly have a good
Serge family gathering. Who gives a damn about what Modcan copied or didn't
copy??.... give it a rest. Christ.... some of y'all sure know how to piss
on a good time. Sorry for the rant, but good grief!!
Kind regards
John DuVal

freq shifter & delay

2001-06-09 by =?iso-8859-1?q?=20?= <r_a_quirk@...>

Hi,
has anyone here tried the serge freq shifter with the
moogerfooger delay? just wondering how it sounded.
I've got the moogerfooger (nice device, but a bit
sensitive to signal levels - distorts but not in the
nice way like my Boss dm-100), and am still trying to
decide on what I want in my serge panel - can only
afford one in forseeable future so need to get it
right.

regards,
Richard

I got to agree wholeheartedly with that.
(hope I wasn't part of the problem)

a break from the bitchin' -

I've uploaded 2 files called Weird Disco and Weird Disco Sweep...

Weird Disco patch is as follows:

NTO (Freq at 10 o'clock) SYNCED to PCO (Freq at 12 o'clock - Hi Range)

SINE WAVE OUT of PCO into CARRIER IN of RING MOD

SIGNAL IN of RING MOD fed by LO OUTPUT of VCFQ in self-oscillation (BP to
IN)

RING MOD SETTINGS: CARRIER (1 o'clock) AM amount (10 o'clock)

VCFQ FREQ is modulated by BIPOLAR OUT of DSG1
DSG1 is patched to self-trigger and is sending GATE OUT to ADSR

DSG1 SETTINGS: RISE (10 o'clock) FALL (12 o'clock)

OUTPUT of DSG1 feeds INPUT of DSG2

DSG2 is patched to self trigger: RISE (11 o'clock) FALL (10 o'clock)
DSG OUTPUT modulating both VCFQ RESONANCE and AM amount of RING MOD

ADSR (triggered by DSG1) feeds both VC FREQ of the PCO and UAP VCA1
ADSR SETTINGS: Delay 0, Attack 0, DSR all at 2 o'clock.

The patch is the same for Weird Disco Sweep - I'm just opening the Freq of
the VCFQ (ie turning it CW to max).

I particularly like the series of harmonics going on in the background of
the main pitched sound - the Kick type thud is obviously the VCFQ being
triggered in Self-Oscillation (when Cutoff is low at it disappears once the
Cutoff is swept CW).

Anybody like to explain what is going on in technical/electronic terms?? I'd
love to know!

Hope the patch is clear to you all ;-))
