Serge custom panels

Serge custom panels

2009-04-06 by Ioannis Kazlaris

Hello,
I disagree that it is redundant for Rex to design custom panels. First, this is supposed to be a modular system and a highly expensive one so I don't see why we should not be allowed to have the modules we want in the places we want. Secondly, why should I pay for 2 M-boats to get two ADSRs that I sorely need?
I also think that the black strip in the middle of the panel is redundant - it could go at the back thus giving you the option to put another module there. Sorry, I don't like it, neither ergonomically nor aesthetically.
So, until Rex decides to do some custom panels again, there are other options for me to look. ModCan for instance are great modulars and completely customizable too.
Regards,
Yannis

hey Yannis,

I believe Rex is doing it this way so he can get more serge systems out to the masses quickly, at a decent price and with the highest quality maintained... Surely you can see how lots of custom orders would clog the pipeline?

The black strip is a good thing, It adds a grounding plane that electrically separates the modules giving them less noise in the signal. It has enough power to connect four plugs and eliminates the need for wires hanging out the back.

I believe there is a single M-odule that has two ADSR's? wouldn't that be much less than a full custom panel costing 4-5k$

I understand the outcry for custom, but Rex is doing good stuff here!!

I don't really like the look of the black strip either but the cost of the M-Class modules is considerably less then buying a full panel even when you take into consideration you get 2 less columns of stuff per panel because if said black strip. If Rex would change the strip from black to silver I'd be totally stoked but that's not really a deal breaker for me.

I aid it on muff so I might as well say it here too, I don't personally have a big problem with the colour of that strip though I totally agree that it just makes me think of the function blocks that aren't there but as long as it's serving multiple purposes I think I can live with it.
