Well Darrel was not anywhere near 'one of the first' people to work with Serge, though his contribution was probably the most lasting and important. I just watched the whole video, and though somewhat dry and lacking any audio demonstrations, is a great look at the early days of Serge Modular Music Systems.
I loved seeing the photos on MatrixSynth, as they took me back to the mid 70's. I used to stand across the street from that wig shop to hitchhike home after a day of soldering PC boards. I would stand directly under the marquee of a porn theater in the armpit of Hollywood and make my way the 12 or so miles back home. Amazingly, I never got into any trouble of any sort and met a lot of very interesting people that way...
Serge drove an old Volvo 122 that was painted 'desert camo' by an artist friend long before camouflage became the 'in' thing. He said that he never got any tickets in it due to the paint job.
