Shutting down the group

Shutting down the group

2018-02-24 by John P

Dear all:

According to my email, it's been almost 2 years since anyone's used the
group

for any kind of discussion.

If anyone wants to take over, that's fine. Otherwise I'll be shutting it
down.

It's been a lot of fun over the years but I think people have moved on
to Muffwiggler and other forums.

"So long, and thanks for all the noise."

Sorry to see this happen but times change and people seem to have migrated to other forums with advent of more simple
paradigms. Sad to see all the years of knowledge, wisdom and tricks/tips disappear or lost
Take care John & thanks for all the effort

Is there a way to archive the group content so people have access to it somehow?

There’s really a lot of great info here and it seems a shame for it to disappear.

I'm not in a huge hurry. I will look into the archive issue before pulling the plug.

It would be a GREAT help if someone else could archive the group.

I would be prepared to archive, but don't know what the procedure is.
As I am now providing the CGS boards from Ken Stone it would make sense to to these on

If you like, just change the owner of the group to me, and maybe give the other interested parties like Laurie admin access as well. I don't mind sitting on another "archive" group.

The trumpet fanfare you just heard was Ken's promotion to owner, and Laurie's to moderator.

Congrats, you saved the group from the black black void().

Best to all,

John P.

I agree w/ John. I admin a group that hasn’t had active msging for years, but I know folks have used it as a resource. Doesn’t cost anything to keep it, except for occasionally rejecting a spammer request to join

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
