Re: Serge FS

I suggest there would be many people with money to spend on one or two
panels than one person, already sitting on this list, with $15,000 to spare
on an entire system.
I suppose it could seem ridiculous to talk about gear at a time like this.
For me, the odd Serge contribution or email from other sources have been a
welcome distraction from the horrible images.
Sorry if this comes out sounding wrong in any way.

C.W.,
I understand completely your sentiments. I have been
following the news coverage closely myself. I
understand that this shift of focus to daily business
might seem offensive to some, but personally my take
on the situation is that these terrorists have been
only partially successful in that they killed a lot of
people and disrupted the country. If we stop in our
tracks and become completely incapacitated as a
people, then they have been even more successful. I am
Tibetan Buddhist, and I know that the people who are
gone, while not here for their loved ones, and
therefore generating grief at this place in time, do
not intend for this grief to last, and will return to
finish the jobs they were unable to complete. Their
deaths are unfortunately a fact of life now, and in
the past. There is nothing we, you or I, can do to
help them. But we can honor them by not letting their
muderers be any more successful. For me that means
looking into the future, and right now, unfortunately,
that means selling my Serge. Not really important in
the relative importance scale, but necessary
nonetheless. I think these lost Americans would want
us to move on. My problem with the whole thing at the
moment is my own anger over it. The Buddhists say that
a moment of anger can burn up a lifetime of
accumulation of merit. If that's the case, then my
merit is long gone. I don't believe in even killing
insects, and I won't hunt or fish, but I find myself
actually wishing they would nuke the Afghanis off the
face of the earth. That can't be good. Business as
usual is the way I have chosen to cope.
Thanks,
BarryM

Barry -

Me too. We're only human. One way we can help end the cycle of violence is
of course to acknowledge the impulses but not act out on them.
And in doing so, create the beginnings of a better world.

i welcome the distraction as well and wish barry the best of luck in selling his gear.
like chris, however, i agree that you'd get more willing and able buyers if you were
to decide to sell individual panels, fwiw.

god bless america.

In fact there is a willing and mostly able buyer. This is just the
system I was looking for. I was literally going to call Rex today, but
of course I couldn't have gotten as big a system for that price new.

The only problem is I have to get my car sold first...

I read a little further and found this post. Bob is
the member I have been referring to. I just didn't
include his name for discretions sake. He got back to
me almost immediately that he wanted the system and
realized, like I do, that it is a fine configuration.
I know some of you guys have systems out there that
are either much bigger or you are growing panel by
panel in specific directions. If I only had a couple
or three panels to offer it would be different. But
it's such a nice system... and Bob will really be good
to it, give it a nice home. It would be pretty hard to
get a system this large immediately as well, as Bob
seems to be well aware. Thanks guys, for the support.
I know it is only an object, but it is an object I
craved for twenty years, and I am attached to it in
almost an unhealthy way. This was a tough decision and
even after I had the original post written, I almost
didn't send it.

Hello all! I was on this list over a year ago and had to
unsubscribe due to lack of time. I am in the process of rearranging my
studio and I have decided to sell two of my panels. One panel is new,
built by STS in 1999. The other dates back to 82/83 and was
refurbished by Rex in 1998. Very briefly, from left to right:

New Panel:

SEQ8 - TKB QTZR - DUAL ANALG SHIFT- P DIV-TRIPL WAVE SHAP-FREQ
SHIF-CMOD- DUAL DETECTOR-DUAL VCA

Old Panel:
DUSG-SCAL BUF-ACTIV PROCSR x 2-DTG x4

Negotiable pricing: $2350 New Panel - $950 Old panel

I can not include a PSU (need to keep mine) but I will include approx
15 patch cords per panel.

Please goto homepage.mac.com/djemd/ to see photos. Please feel free
to forward that website to anyone else you might know interested in
buying used Serge panels. All mail can be sent to either
prosoy@... or djemd@...

I am located in Portugal, but will ship worldwide. I'd prefer to sell
it as an expander to a current Serge, Fenix, Wiard, Modcan etc. owner.

Warm regards and holiday wishes to all!
