Hello Mr. DarkStar, hello romeo, and sorry for butting in to what was obviously intended solely for mr. duval. You have to watch out for Dave. Nuthin' but trouble.
So I see you're getting a mixer-only panel. Do you mind telling me which
modules you chose for it?
however, it made it to the list, so here we are!i have a heavily customized serge mixer panel, pictured on SMOG here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SergeModular/files/mixer1.jpg
its the panel on the bottom.
left to right, its two pre's, a C/M with AC only and 1/4 jacks (for getting sounds into
the system), two RES eq's, two 4 channel SMX's ganged together for 8 channels of
mixing, and a unique 2 channel master mixer module (each channel hardwired to the stereo
outs of the SMX's). master volume is acheived by send an equal voltage to the VC input
of each channel of the master, as patched in the picture (the bottom of the scaling processor
on the bottom left of the upper panel provided your voltage). or send voltage as you please and
start whipping your mix all over the place.i can't begin to emphasize, for folks ordering new panels or looking to buy used ones, how important
mixing capabilities are in the serge system. you have so many potential outputs, and i believe most
go underutilized. after reaching 6 panels, rex called me up and literally sold me on getting a more
advance mixing solution. it took a while and was very expensive but well worth it. not sexy, but
used in every patch, leaving those little MIX's and AMX's for mixing waveforms and vco' and filter
outs and whatnot. as a matter of fact, this panel has allowed me to easily achieve 3 voice polyphony
(each channel has a VCA!), and to leave certain voices patched while developing others.
romeo, PLEASE take a look at past posts regarding the serge musician's tapes 2002 that
I've been meditating on an old Serge VCA diagram. I'm hoping to cobble
something together similar to the UAP... got the basics figured out. I
feel that animated mixing/crossfading is really missing from my system.Say, if you'd be up for it sometime, I'd be into trading a CD with you.
>From what Dave tells me about your music, you might find what I do
interesting.
i am putting together. and everyone else: i'm shooting for a february release, so lets get those
cds, tapes, etc. to me for inclusion.have a great day!
