Hi, I writing on behalf of a friend who has an SDS 9 kit. The Drums and controller have been stored in a loft for about 14 years in a relativly dry enviroment. He recently took the drums out to see if they still worked but after hearing some distorted sounds the unit eventually made no sound at all. The circutboard appears to be OK with no signs of errosion. Could it be (not surpprisingly) that the internal battery is dead? The fact that it made some sounds which eventually died away makes us think that the small white disk(the battery?) is kaput. Or is it more likely to be somthing fatal like the circuitboard or ROM chips being damaged and we can't see where the damage is? Is it too much to hope that he could replace a component and have those wonderfull sounds back or is 14 years of storage just too much for the poor thing. I would be very greatfull for any feed back, even some abuse for having left the thing alone for so long. I haven't had much luck finding info about Simmons on the web. Cheers, mike
