Here is a mystery to be solved. It looks like the SDS-2 I have is of later date and maybe not of Simmons origin after all, but all other stuff corresponds to the description so it gets me thinking that the original electronic design might have faltered and was replaced. The case sure looks "home brew" with bent edges and the front sure is letraset just as described in the book. It seems stupid indeed that someone in the mid-80's would've made a fake SDS-2. Why is the question. Back then Simmons was very much in business doing top of the line digital stuff and why fake a crappy old analogue then? The mist thickens... I know a guy on this list sometimes talks to Dave. It would be nice to get feedback on this... BTW, I received a reply from Bob Henrit, seems like a very friendly guy. Anything special you want me to ask. He mentioned he still has a lot of manuals around... electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se www.myspace.com/machinepop ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Ridley" <spr@...> To: <Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Monday, September 17, 2007 5:44 PM Subject: RE: [Simmons Drums] sds-2, pics and sounds > > >> > Look guys, just for you! :) >> http://www.electronic-obsession.se/studio/simmons/sds-2.html > > The headphone amp appears to be an Elektor (magazine) board > from 1983.
