Hello Sander,
The XLR connectors on the SDS5 pads (and brain for that matter) are 
not wired in the traditional way. Pin 2 is hot while pins 1 and 3 are 
ground.  You will need to re-wire the adapter accordingly to make the 
pads trigger the SDS9 brain. Happy drumming!
