I'm not a drummer but a synthesist, but when I do add live drums from time to time the harder the surface the more annoying it gets since I play at home and not with a massive side-fill monitor system. That means that the impact sound is important too. It drowns out the sound of the monitor and I don't like cranking up the headphones. I hate cymbals for that reason too. I already have slightly damaged hearing from too many concerts, so I won't need more uncontrolled noise. Therefor the bass pad is still around 'cause it's not hit in the same fashion and it looks cool. :) But... I can hit the older toms with real skins with all the force I want without getting annoyed in the same fashion. I know KW has played a lot of earlier V's with chinese eating sticks (wasn't it?). -- electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se www.myspace.com/machinepop - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - "Spotify is fully legal and so should our content be too."
