It's far from voltages. The pad inputs are using far lower values. It's 
the sequencer inputs that range from circa +3 to +15 depending on model. 
The pads output millivolts up to 1,5 (If I recall correct). I bet 
Wolfgang can tell you more. Some have limiting resistors in the pads and 
some at the outputs of the brains etc. It's no clear science! ;)
