Changing SDS-9 MIDI notes

Changing SDS-9 MIDI notes

2005-09-12 by richdjpearson

Hi,

I wonder if someone can advise me how to get an SDS-9 to trigger the
correct sounds in a drum module?

I have only just purchased an SDS-9 (without manual), and have
attached to my PC which is able to emulate a Roland GM standard drum
kit.

My first observation is that the 3 tom drums of the Simmons, do not
create tom drum sounds in the PC. I guess that the Simmons preceded
the definition of the Roland GM standard?

I would also like to be able to use one of the pads to trigger a hi-
hat sound, and another for a crash cymbal.

I think I can do all this remapping in the PC, but if it is possible
to define the MIDI notes the SDS-9 transmits that would be
preferable. (On the PC I have a SoundBlaster Audigy so I think I can
edit a drum soundfont with Vienna, but haven't tried this yet).

Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

Richard.

P.S. If any very kind person with a manual is able to scan it and
put it on this forum that would be fantastic!
