Questions on Simmons SDS-7 Hi-Hat, Crash, and Ride Cymbal sounds

2006-02-25 by hamsterdrum85

For those of you who have an SDS-7 to toy around with, how can I
make those cool cymbal sounds? I need to know what EPROMs to use and
how much value of the right-side controls will be necessary. The
ride sounds to have an almost accoustic ride sound but with a little
bit of a hiss or a Simmons hi-hat sound mixed in with it. The crash
sounds to have a sound almost like a 16" K. Zildjian thin crash but
the pitched is swept up and has a hiss at the beginning of the sound
(I'm not sure if it has a ping at the beginning like the SDS-5
Cymbal Sound). The high hat sounds are a short analog "tsst" sound
for closed and a shaker-like hiss for open.

My only known source for the ride sound was from:

-"Evan" by Jan Hammer from THE MIAMI VICE SOUNDTRACK

Some of my sources for the crash sounds were from:

-"The Ghost in You" by Psychadelic Furs
-"High on Emotions" by Chris De Burgh
-"Let's Hear It for the Boy" by Dennise Williams
-"Technique" and "I Can Fly" by Rainey from GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE
FUN SOUNDTRACK
-"Carribean Queen" by Billy Ocean
-"Chase" and "Evan" by Jan Hammer from THE MIAMI VICE SOUNDTRACK
-"Oh Shiela" by Ready for the World
-"Take on Me" by A-ha

Some of my sources for the hi-hat sounds were from:

-"Living a Boy's Adventure Tale" by A-ha (from the same album
as "Take on Me"--Hunting High and Low)
-"Miami Vice Theme" by Jan Hammer
-"Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister
