As they say: " One man's trash, another man's treasure...."

Anyway, does anybody have any comments or answers to my SDX info and/or inquiries? Am I wasting my time in here? Not necessarily in a hurry, it just seems selling prices & equipment values take precedent here. I'm personally not really interested in that to be honest. Anybody who's interested in vintage Simmons gear and approximate ca$h value are probably attentively watching eBay anyway.

It doesn't, this is for anything Simmons (except the GC type) but since
we'd discussed the suitcase and since I ran across the other I thought
it interesting to post it. It's not like the Simmonsmails are flooding
the inbox.

Like me then? But regarding the SDX, not all of us have SDX's for
obvious reasons. And since I haven't got around to fixing my SDS-III
there is not much to report there either...

But I've decided to sell my SDS-8 pads and is a bit hesitant regarding
the SDS-V bass pad I've used with them. Why sell? I'll go with the
Pollard and SDS-3/4 pads in the set instead. I like the skins of those,
they look amazing too (in an even more retro style) and they take up
less space.

BUT... does anyone (Wolfgang?) knowwhich type of hardware was used for
the SDS-3/4. The mounting holes on my sets are different. They look like
they'll fit the Tama "spike" type but they don't. Are they supposed to
be mounted on cymbal stands maybe?

I initially read the "mission statement" for this group and thought this might be a good place to learn and share applications and experiences with other users. I personally place great value on that aspect alone.

Allow me to re-phrase: Pricing and value does interest me, but practical usage and knowledge of these products scores high above that in my book. These are musical instuments after all and not rare paintings.

obvious reasons. And since I haven't got around to fixing my SDS-III
there is not much to report there either... ...And I'm guessing even less of us have the suitcase kit ! ( also for obvious reasons ). I was just looking for the people here who have more experience than I do to give me/us a tad more insight on this rather important topic. I guess I'll have to assume that nobody knows. - Roland

Hi Roland ,

I didn't check the processus you're showing in your pictures...
& I can't really, as I have no Zip to format for the moment ...

&No no no you're not wasting your time, I'm personnaly very happy to
discuss about the real life of our machines...

It's good to go out from the Simmons fantasy (we all have or
had...especially about the SDX) &
to touch the simple reality which is not always as nice as we
expected...

I met a lot of people who were like bewitched by this unit & didn't
really realised how hard on some ways it was to use it ...
There's a lot to say about it ...
I feel myself very pragmatic about it as I played on a few different
systems from Dynacord, ddrum Pearl Roland Yamaha to Simmons...
But I've been possessed & in love with it, at first , till I met the
real use...(mixing problems, touch, memory management, no roadies to
bring it on the road ...etc ...)

So please, keep tell us about your evolution (& questions )on the SDX !
I might answer or learn something new about it ...
That's all I expect from the Simmons group...& it still seems the
right place to do it ... ;- ))

Therefore I'm not sure we're all using often the SDX.
some people , I think, have just it in their own collection, or no
time to use it (as it demands quite time consuming)

but keep going, it will remind us that we have some Huuuge Sounds in
this unit ...
& you might find another "creative use" of the SDX ... ;-)))

Bye,
Patrice.
