Simmons SDS7

2008-07-09 by Mark Walley

First, let me say that I am a new member to this group.

Second, I am a vocalist, bass player, guitar player, a poor
keyboardist and not a drummer.

Third, I have a small recording studio in my home. Really, it's my
office, with as much musical gear as I can squeeze into it. So,
here's my dilemma:

A friend gave me his 1984 Simmons SDS7. He said that it didn't work
(oops, his mistake, my gain), and I was welcome to take it off his
hands. It is fully functional. Here is a list of what I have:

5 drum pads (1 bass drum, 4 regular)
8 modules:
    1 Bass Drum
    2 Tight Snare
    1 Rock Snare
    3 Bright Tom
Brain with Rack Ears
Selector Pad (16 channels)
Operating Instructions

I have various cables (XLR Male to Female, XLR Male to 1/4" TS Male),
a couple drum stands with clamps and dual L-brackets, and legs for
the bass drum. All the pieces are somewhat rough and show some age
and wear, but they are all functional.

I recognize this for what it is, and what it might mean to someone
with a need/desire for it. I don't necessarily want to keep this
unit, but I would like an electronic kit for learning/recording
purposes.

Anyone interested in making an offer? I will entertain cash offers,
or will trade for a decent used electronic kit in good working
order. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions. I can
provide video, photo, or sound samples via e-mail - just drop me a
line.

Thank you,

Mark Walley

I realized after I had already posted this last night that I
neglected to include information pertinent to the sale of these
drums - the kit is white.

The only offer I have received so far is just a little more than half
what I had in mind (I was thinking $600-700, but I was offered
$350). My question is, based on the information below, what would be
a fair asking price for a kit like this?

I don't really want to sell this on Ebay, but I may have to.

Mark

Ebay is the way to go and if you want a better price, await september
when everyone is back from their holidays etc.

I think 6-700 is decent enough if it's working as expected.
