New hexabod

2010-03-05 by Jonathan

Hello,
Somewhat unexpectedly I won an SDS9 set and am now getting together the missing odds & ends.

One of the main problems is that the "click" pot knob has been snapped off at deck level and the knob lost. Does anyone know where I could get another original one, or what spec it is to get one from Farnell etc?

I've run the demo & all seems well with the brain and tested the channels with my 1 lead so can't test the snare. Just waiting for the missing leads to be delivered & a bass pedal - then I'll be able to see what I've got. Have to say I'm rather looking forward to it....

Cheers
Jonathan

Congrat's and welcome!

I have no part number but both my SDS-1's suffered the same when I
bought them. Just open the unit and check the back of the pot for the
correct value. Shouldn't be too tricky since 99% of all pots are marked
on the housing itself.

Regarding the knob they're made by Cliff Electronics and I think Farnell
has them too. Elfa sell them under the name K85 AFAI remember but they
don't sell the blue/green caps.

Great to hear that the brain is working. It's easier to get a knob or
whatever than sorting out messy digital oddness...

Jesper,
Thanks for that info. I'll whip the cover off & get the spec hopefully. Also the Elfa part no tells me that the shaft is 6mm dia, so I can track hopefully track ONE down over here (I've found taht K85 is Cliff's part no). I have found some for sale on ebay, but it is for a whole set of about 30 (for an SDS 8 I think).

Finding the demo was a relief as presumably it proves that the snare & rim are working OK. I took a gamble as I was buying it with the snare/rim not working properly. The seller didn't know much about it really & I thought perhaps the eproms were poorly, but I think he didn't realise that the snare pad had a stereo jack....

Anyway, enough of that, my leads should turn up next week & I can have a play.

Thanks for again the info & welcome.

Please double check the diameter, this is from memory remember. But I
did find knobs on Elfa, that far I'm certain. :)

The best deals are those with a misinformed seller. :)
