I've been told that the SDE is based on Yamaha chips and was wondering if the dx5 or dx7 cartridges would be similar to the sde memory cartridges. Am I nuts or would this be worth a little electronic R&D.

I'm no tech, but as long as they use the same voltage to power it and
feed it information on the correct pins I guess it could work. On the
other hand, the DX-cartridges aren't for free and you might well burn
them unless you do your homework with a volt meter or similar first.
(Compare the prom-problems for Simmons and the EPB.)

On a related matter: The Roland memory cards are supposed to work in the
Akai VX-600 but in my search for a decently priced Roland card I ran
into the Akai original one so I never bothered to test the theory. You
might just end up finding an original cartridge if you're lucky. :D

If you're really so desperate to get one, I can sell you mine for € 120.- including the SDE ;-) 110V, no Rackears, but working fine.
Best
Thomas

Re: SDE Cartridges or SDE with cartridges

2010-12-11 by darkideas@rocketmail.com

I would considere buying an SDE or SDE's with some or all the cartridges if theres some out there. I'm confident I could convert it to 240volts if its 110.. or just use a converter.

Dont think you can chain them but not sure I'd need to.

Just let me know if you think you will sell and we can chat :)

If I can get hold of a memory card I could get a friend of mine to run some tests and see if Yama cartriges could be converted.. or even new ones made. Who knows.. he knows his stuff

Thanks
