I have a schematic, although it lacks enough information to identify some of the
IC's. I was planning on cross referencing it with the internals of my Clap Trap
to try and produce a more useful schematic.

Hi!

I've uploaded the schematic to the existing "Analog Claptrap" directory
in the files section of the Yahoo group. I'll quote below the
description that I added to the file:

"Simmons Analog Clap Trap schematic. There is no attribution or
copyright on the schematic. I assume this was distributed by Simmons as
an aid to service engineers, and is therefore freely distributable."

It's a 300 dpi scan, so should be suitable for printing on A4 sized paper.

Cheers,

Chris

This is the schematics of the Mark 2 (analogue Simmons ClapTrap), the humaniser is already built in. It was a great idea to use the AC frequency from the PSU to modulate the VCO. A free LFO! This is the Simmons spirit!
Also bad, that the LM566 (VCO) is so expensive these days. Back in the days, you could buy it for a few cents. Now they want 15 Euro or more.

There's an interesting thread on the Electro Music forum that suggests the
NTE994M as an alternative to the LM566:

http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-12642.html

It also mentions an interesting drum voice that can be built around those chips.
Something for the Christmas break perhaps ...

Thank you for the info! Great! I hope, they have some in stock. I will try to get some, when my holidays are over. May be they sell some CA3080 too...
