Lee Harris:

My love for Simmons drums was really cemented with Lee's work on the first two Talk Talk albums (I already loved Landscape's From the Tea Rooms of Mars, and Depeche Mode's A Broken Frame!) Lee and Paul Webb just worked so great together.

This video, and there's another from Montreux in '86, capture their mastery & genius right before they abandoned electronics and embarked on a Miles Davis-infused Post Rock direction.

all my best,
- Scott

Great link! I love those first two Talk Talk albums - good songs, made
even better by the combination of Simmons drums and Oberheim OB-Xa
synthesiser.

Now for possibly the most unlikely use of Simmons drums ever. Punk band
The Exploited on their "Horror Epics" album:

I love a bit of anarcho-punk, and this album is one of my favourites.
Hated by a lot of Exploited fans, since it tried to be a bit more
adventurous with not only the drums but a clearer mix. Some of the
tribal drumming goes a bit out in places on the title track, as drummer
Willie was not as technically good as he became on later albums like
punk metal masterpiece "Beat The B*stards".
