3 Simmons corpses

3 Simmons corpses

2016-04-19 by jesper

Hi list,

I just arrived back home with three units bought as a faulty lot. One
SDS-200 that has one working channel and one dead. The good news is that
all the components are there and that the working channels sounds nice!
I need to start at the trigging end 'cause it won't even light it's LED.
I have hopes though, unless the CEM is fried...

The SDS-8 was described by the seller as "dead, or I cannot sell it as
working with a good concious". No PSU with that one, but I'll get to
doctorin' that later.

A SDS-1000 with a dead eprom. The rest is supposed to work. Don't know
if that image is available somewhere. But it was a pure bonus anyway.

Can't go that bad considering I payed 80 euros for all three...

Guess who has the SDS1000 Eprom image. And: the corrected one (without the
click). And many alternative sounds for the SDS1000. I can send you :-)

Best

Michael

I could've imagined... :D

I'll take a look inside once I've dealt with the SDS-8. That has a back
plate that was badly bent. But now it's bent back and the circuitry
looks OK at first glance. No PSU (they were sold in Sweden with external
PSU) but I'll get it hooked up to my bench PSU when testing...

Will let you know regarding the SDS-1000 and keep the group posted with
the progress.

Both SDS-200 and SDS-8 are up and running again. :D

Today I opened the SDS-1000 and was met be a sad eprom that someone has
tried to forced out of the crcuit board with a screwdriver (without
desoldering!). I've desoldered, I have the program and my "doctor" can
burn a new prom. But... I really need to find the right orientation (in
a socket) on the board. The eporm was so damaged that it wasn't possible
to determine.

Sure, I can probably get it from studying where the different legs are
connected, but if any here has a picture of the board or know it by
heart; please let me know. :)
