Nick, > I was just looking at your site and see that you have made some updates. I > also was looking at the Photos section of the Group site and checking out the > Theremin-C and the PSIM-1 prototypes. I have a lot more photos I need to get uploaded to both the site and the group's photo section. I've just been very busy with the PSIM-1 lately and haven't had much of a chance to keep the Web sites updated. > I noticed that you just added a Wiard Noise Ring to your rig. I have been > enjoying mine - it is such a freaky unit! Yes, the Wiard Noise Ring is truly an INCREDIBLE module! It's a difficult module to describe and Grant does a good job trying... but until you actually use one, you won't know what you're missing. It is by far one of the *best* modules ever released by anyone. Of all the modules I've seen, built, and heard... the quality of the Wiard Noise Ring's design and build (it is a work of art!) and the uniquness of it's function puts it in my top two favorite modules I own. The Blacet/Wiard Mini Wave being my second favorite... followed closely by the Blacet Dark Star Chaos and Blacet Binary Zone. Anyone who doesn't get a Noise Ring will be missing out. Period. > The Theremin-C demo on your site is nice (a wierd mix complete with > disembodied voice). Could you explain the break down of what all is in the > mix besides the Theremin? That was before my "modular days". It doesn't output 10V so you have to amplify the signal to use it with the modular. Anyway, I've updated the SynthModules.com web site again and included a link to the original Theremin-C site. I have already sold quite a few of them. I guess I kind of got started in the Synth business building and selling Theremins. Hmmm.... Anyway, I'm in the process of redesigning it but I don't know when that will happen. PSIM-1 first. Yes, the Theremin-C is an optical theremin and it is very small as can be seen in the photo sitting on the Moog Rogue's keyboard. It is still available in very limited quantities. It sounds great when ran through a delay. The sample is a mix of various things. The intro begins with a voice saying "Theremin-C" which was produced running the Theremin-C through an Electrix WarpFactory vocoder. Lots of analog delay provided by an Ibanez AD-202. The background sounds were done on a Moog Rogue. That sample was done before I had started building my modular synth. It was all recorded and mixed on my PC. If you want to hear a sample I did on my modular that sounds a lot like a theremin using a pair of Blacet VCOs synced, a joystick controller, and LOTS of analog delay added too... listen to this: http://www.SynthModules.com/mp3/BDH-XY-SYNC.mp3 I've been having a blast since I added a second VCO! > I have tried to play the PSIM-1 demo files on your site, but all I get are 2 pages > of code gobbledygook. I am most interested in this upcoming module. I think > hybrid c/v digital modules are the final frontier of Modular Synths and that you > are really on to something. I am looking forward to hearing the examples... If you can't listen to the samples on the Web site, try saving them locally to your PC (right-click/save as) and then listening to them. I need to redo those MP3s. Remember, the PSIM-1 demo files are not available yet. The samples on the site are of it's predecessor the PGIM-1 (Programmable Gate Interface Module). Everyone needed more than just programmable gates... so the PSIM-1 was born with its four INs and four OUTs that can be programmed to be just about anything you want them to be. Thank you all for your support and interest. I'm getting very close to having some PSIM-1 modules in my hands to do some further testing and such. Keep watching the site and this group for important announcements. Best regards and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone! - Brice D. Hornback http://www.SynthModules.com
