Think of it in the opposite way:  Turn ON to the PSIM because you *can*
"program it"!

I use mine primarily for quantization and as a sequencer, and with
careful programming it can do both at once.  You could have as many as
four "functions" going at once (like four different quantizers, which is
easy), again depending on the applications and the programming.

You can also put programs in series, so that there's five programs in
there, and each time you press the "stop" button it jumps to/runs the
next one.

Even if you don't write programs, there are some that you can easitly
customize to your own needs.  As Brice mentioned, the PSIM is the
greatest quantizer ever.  All the quantizers I've made have a list of
notes (CV values) that are available as output.  You can change the list
to whatever set of notes you want; put in duplicates, put them in any
order, it doesn't matter.

And it goes great with a Fat Controller (I noticed on your website that
you have one).  I am currently fine-tuning a program that allows the
PSIM to control the advance of the FC thru its steps by selectively
feeding pulses to the DIN input.

And I understand your not wanting to involve your computer with your
modular.  There's a computer (an old PII laptop!) in the music room, but
only because of the PSIM :)

Just a quick one. The one thing that has put me OFF the PSIM is this 
issue that one has to "program it". My modular is seperated from my 
digital stuff for a reason, and I like it that way. I REALLY dont want 
to have to use a laptop with my modular.

Now are people getting it for ONE primary use, or do the have this 
serial cable plugged in permanently for changing its use?
(shouldnt there be a plug on the front for it then???)

Did you say 100 programs on the CD??? CRIKEY!!! Is there a list of 
these somewhere??

(Will probably get one, just to not be left out, but it might depend 
WHEN!!!)
