I never realized how much work went into those four blue LEDs... I must say tho that I really like the way they indicate (in kind of a zen/nonspecific/analogue way) the current voltage at each of the outputs. I find them extremely handy, and of course they look cool as hell too :) Brice, any chance we can get some insider info on the "sock knocker" stuff? PSimian Andrew >>> synthmodules@synthmodules.com 10/23/05 5:42 PM >>> [snip] might think that's an understatement)... back onto the bench it goes. You wouldn't believe how difficult it is to match the LEDs for performance. Making them respond to the voltage output on each channel was probably a mistake. Even from the same batch, LEDs vary in brightness, color, and at what voltage they turn on and off. I'm doing my best to hand-match the four blue LEDs in a test jig. That means sorting through almost 900+ T1 blue LEDs to find four that are a good match, then moving on to the next set of four. That itself can take up to an hour or more to find four good matching LEDs. In the future, you might see a different style of indicator on the PSIM-1. Possibilities include simply a LED that turns on or off to indicate that a channel is outputting a voltage. Does seeing the four LEDs dim and brighten as the voltage changes really make that big of a difference? I'm looking for input on this one... Thoughts? Opinions? Production is ramping back up and my bench is covered with PSIM-1 pieces. Lots of wiring and testing... but thankfully, that's all that remains. Now that all the parts are stuffed, Andrew (trelane) has been putting together the power cables and that in itself has been a great help. Next time, I'll purchase them pre-made. ;) I'm still here folks. I'm not going anywhere and although this batch has seen its share of problems with production, I'm not discouraged. Actually, exactly the opposite. I've learned a LOT in the process and will not be making the same mistakes twice. We're going to see some exciting things from SynthModules in the future. I have several ideas up my sleeve that will knock your socks off!
