Speaking of sequencer helpers - shouldn't it be absolutely straightforward to create a sequential switch for combining multiple row outputs of a sequencer? Has anyone done this? To be of use, your step sequencer must have a Clock Input that advances the step. If it also has a Reset Input as well, all the better. > > I use it with a MetalBox Sequential Switch and it is very cool... > > The PSIM inputs are: Clock (an LFO for example), the voltage output of the sequencer, and an optional Pattern Length voltage. > > The PSIM outputs are: Clock out (goes to sequencer's clock in), CV out (to the VCO), Gate out (to EGs) and Reset (to the sequencer's reset in) > > Basically it quantizes the voltage from the sequencer into a chosen number of ranges, and each range is associated with a CV (effectively quantizing the notes) and a duration measured in clock pulses. So turning a sequencer knob can change that step from an E2 note of duration 1 to a G3 note of duration 4. > > You can set up the notes and durations to any values you want. The first half of the knob range can be all duration 1 and the second half all duration 2, or they could totally scattered and different. Same for the notes. Mixing them up will give you new suprises everytime you alter a step. > > The other input tells the program how many pulses (of the input clock) to count before issuing a Reset pulse. Set for 16 pulses, it will stay with a drum machine running in 4/4 time. Set for 17 (or 11 or 21 or ???) will give you all sorts of poly-rhythmic frippy stuff. > > It's a blast to play with.
