PSIM-1 Shipping Update

PSIM-1 Shipping Update

2004-12-17 by synthmodules

Everyone... yes, I'm doing my best. I'll expand on that statement.
The delays in shipping have nothing to do with problems in
manufacturing, or parts (everything is here... no problems with
that), or anything else that has to do with the modules themselves.

Since I started the PSIM-1 project, I've suffered several setbacks
and have been working through a lot of personal problems such as the
loss of my job, a motorcycle accident, etc. I have gotten past most
of those issues and am working on modules as quickly as I can. I had
to take a part-time job which has turned into working about ten to
twelve hours a day in retail computer sales (building, repairing,
etc.). I get one day off a week and when I'm not sleeping, I spend
all my "spare" time working on building PSIM-1 modules. I am working
my way through the orders and now have a grasp on how I can complete
them even faster.

Yes, I have had email problems. My primary email server has suffered
multiple denial of service attacks and was taken offline due to these
attacks on several occassions. I receive upwards of 800+ emails per
day of which over 90% of them are SPAM. I tried using a spam filter,
but that itself was part of the problem and possibly deleted emails
that some of you may have sent to me. For that... I am sorry. I
have since removed the spam filter and am trying my hardest to sort
through the messages hoping not to accidently delete anying that is
truly relevant. A good subject line is *extremely* helpful.

I'm sure no one here really cares about my personal problems... as
you just want your modules. I understand that... and you *will* get
your modules. I wish they were already completed. I wish I could
turn back the clock and do many things differently. I wish I could
ship them all tomorrow.

I haven't disappeared. I'm still here.

Please understand I am trying. I am working on them as fast as I
can. I will get them shipped as quickly as possible.

Happy holidays to everyone on this list. Those of you still waiting
on your modules will have them as soon as I can get them to you...
and I thank you for your extreme patience and understanding.

Best regards,
Brice

Thanks, for the update Brice.

I still have a couple questions.
With such longer delays and your " known" e-mail problems, why not at the
very least send out an e-mail to all that paid notifying them of the
situation.
And, I would expect also an option of a refund or to keep waiting- to settle
those who do not want to wait and speed up the rest.

How many have shipped, and how many are remaining to build and ship?
I haven't seen anyone post that the received one in quite awhile(not that
necessarily means anything) That's why I'm asking.

Also, that's why it would be good to at least let each one with an order
pending what there new ETA is. I feel that is not too much to ask for.

thanks!

Phil,

I'll send out emails to everyone who has ordered one explaining the
delays (although last time I checked everyone was subscribed to this
group and gets these emails). Also, I made very little margin on the
modules to begin with and all the $ was spent on the parts (which were
all been ordered and received) also taking into consideration this was
the first time I've attempted something like this and did make a few
mistakes on ordering parts... so I had to order more thus making this
a learning experience (I know I won't make the same mistakes again).
The remaining is set aside for shipping. So, there is nothing left
for refunds. In order to get the costs down so the modules were
affordable, I had to do a batch of 50 and order everything in
quantities of 50 (or more in the case of resistors, diodes, etc.)...
but the PCBs and panels were in quantities of 50, switches in quantity
(three per module and those that have them know I bought expensive
switches - not cheap ones like I could have - as well as the rest of
the parts are high quality/expensive - I didn't cut any corners), and
jacks in quantities of 500 (didn't need that many but there are some
that don't work so that gives me a little extra for bad jacks).
Anyway, orders were taken up front to finance the project. This was
known by everyone who ordered a module. I won't do this again.

Anyway, I now have two people helping me now and should be able to
finish the remaining modules much faster. I have two ready to ship
now and four more that will ship by the middle/end of next week.
There are approximately twenty modules remaining to ship. The only
time I have to work on them is on my day off and an occasional hour
here and there after work before I pass out. I do have a long four
day weekend coming up with Christmas (and may not have a job as I
won't be needed after the holiday sales), so after the kids open thier
presents, I'll be finishing the remaining modules.

Okay?

Take care,
Brice
