PSIM Availability

2005-05-29 by wny_synth

Brice,

I posted a previous message but it didn't seem to make it. I have
only been reading this group for a short time but the capabilities of
the PSIM look fairly impresive. I see from your web site that the
PSIM is not available at this time. I also see from reading this
group that the effort required for you to build and test these modules
is fairly high. Have you considered offering a partial or full kit.
The partial kit could consist of the PCB and the firmware.

Yes, Bruce has considered the idea of selling PSIM kits. He's dismissed it
for various reasons.

Some aspects of the PSIM-1 design make it tedious to assemble. Brice has
said that he would like to develop an easier-to-build version before
producing any more. He also wants to develop PSIM accessories like MIDI and
SpeakJet interfaces.

Hope this helps.

No, it doesn't help much, but thanks for the reply. It seems its all
in the timing. I didn't discover the PSIM until it was too late to
buy one. BTW, the tediousness of the assembly wouldn't cause me to
shy away. I build complex electronics all the time. Does anyone know
when Brice will likely do another run?

Once I complete this run I'm going to take a little break and figure out
what's next. I do know I'll be doing at least two runs of three "prototype"
PSIM-1 modules to try some new layout features to improve production
times... so there may be a chance to get one then. Also, I have not
completely given up on the idea of a kit (IF there is enough interest)... as
this current version was designed as a kit in the first place (which in one
reason they have taken so long to get built). I'm also looking forward to
sitting down and playing around with some software. I've got thousands of
ideas for new programs but haven't had the chance to try any of them. I
also want to make a MIDI interface and SpeakJet interface available to
anyone who can't build their own. I also have plans for an extremely
sensitive and powerful pre-amp stage (with a few twists) as an add-on. More
on that module later...

PSIM-1 SHIPPING UPDATE:
As far as an update on shipping goes... all that remains is soldering...
Hopefully, I'll finish up the modules this Sunday and start packing them.

Take care everyone!

I'd like to express my very interest in a "partial kit" - i.e. PCB,
special chip(s) & whatever not easily to obtain, no frontpanel (I'm
doing that myself).

So if anyone likes to jump on the train ...

     :-) Michael.

I'm in on this one! A partial kit with the PCB and any hard-to-find
parts + the microprocessor would be great. I'm an MOTM/Synth.com
person overall so I would get a panel from Stooge Larry! All 1/4"
jacks for me thanks.

Brice, maybe you could work something out with someone like Paul at
MOTM or John at Blacet. You sell them the PCB & micro, they add the
remaining parts and front panel. Then you could concentrate on new
designes (h/w & s.w)!

Looking forward to the future.

Larry T.

Yeah i would love to see a kit to.
Or just a new batch.

Regards.
