Congrats on deciding to get a ZO!  I loved mine so much I got a 2nd
euro one used, and have a ZOe on order too.
They sound great in pairs, but I would say that they aren't typical
like other oscillators and you can easily get by with one as long as
you have a decent modulating oscillator or two.  The 4 morph
quadrature outputs can get you into stereoland easily, but with all
the modulation inputs you have available, you can get lots of
different timbres out of one in a nice patch.  The most important
modulator will be the linear in.  I use a PlanB Model 15 and/or a
Cwejman VCO-2RM.  The ZO sounds great with everything I've thrown at
it so far from AFGs to Model 15s and of course the 2nd ZO.  But I
would say that there is no huge advantage modulating a ZO with
another.  It ends up where a filter "should be" in most patches I use
with it.  The FM index is nice too since you can use the dynamic FM
input, turn it all the way down, put an envelope in the FM index, and
the ZO acts kinda like a VCA, sorta (it's not amplifying signals, it's
just using the FM index as a level of modulation, since the ZO is
quiet with no linear FM input present.  So when you get yours, don't
wonder if it's broken if it's not making noise, flip the bias switch,
or feed it a VCO into the linear FM input.

It's amazing sounding and may inspire all your patches to be stereo.  :D
