Not to worry, they are indeed different from the 16mm Metal Alpha pots you desribe - as the pots in our Euro, Blacet, and Modcan A-Series format ZOs rely on PC board mounting, while the Motm and Dotcom format Zeroscillators feature pots with threaded front panel mounting bezels instead. This was necessary in order to make the Zeroscillator project itself possible, and is not really a great departure from the Modcan 17A Sequencer and the Encore Universal Event Generator modules to mention two quick examples. I have seen similar pots with even longer more flexible shafts on some of the new Buchla 200e construction, so we were careful to minimize these effects when we ordered our custom potentiometer run directly from China. We spec'd these carefully, they're more robust than other brands of similar components. I'm sorry, the variation of the depth of black in our front panels is typical and the process is totally out of our hands as there is always that trade-off between panels that are ~harder~ aluminum which machine nicely & neatly, (but hardly accept the black color)... and the ~softer~ aluminum material which is horrible to machine becuase it's so gummy, always needing extra de-burring work and such, (but due to it's softness will take the black ink beautifully)... Panels often vary within the very same batch! Hope this helps explain some of our methods behind the madness! Cyn
