We've been pursuing modular video synthesis goals for some time now, however any way we've diced it, it requires a fair investment in new system infrastructure and we've started paving the way for that by offering our 8-Inch Video Monitor Modules which are not only NTSC/PAL capable, but also provide touch-screen navigation as high resolution computer monitors for computer/MIDI interfaces such as our Cynthia Macintosh or a Windows computer. Have one of each in your rig if you like! Very High Frequency Oscillators are also handy for Video Synthesis, and Zeroscillators happen to work all the way up to one hundred and sixty Kilohertz. Another big decision is that of connectors and interface, and at this level our heads explode in many directions including analog vs. digital, and one has to look at the availability of the necessary components and their present and future availability vs. going totally code warrior... I've been collecting interesting analog video effects boxes over the years to study them, and have acquired a fair collection of video schematics, but either the numbers have all been sanded-off of the chips inside of the boxes (bastards) or the right chips with proper numbers are now unobtainium! Many roads lead back to ~physical~ video synthesis requiring either the physical modification of the yoke of a deep glass tube type video monitor, or the presence of both monitor and video camera looking into each other where with the use of knobs attached to crystals or diffraction grating by little wands or voltage controlled servos, one could do early types of video feedback synthesis, however these approaches strike me as inelegant and some sort of Suzy Bake Oven toy type nightmare, and just I don't want to go there! "A panther never hesitates mid-leap" is a personal philosophy and entering into the video synthesis arena is not something we will do half-heartedly, so we are still at the drawing board on video and open to offers and suggestions. If you are a video engineer and interested, please contact us. We want to go in this direction, but only if we can do it totally right. Cynthia
