Howdy! There are already (22) input and output jacks on a Standard Zeroscillator, and you can well imagine that there will be more on the Buchla format version as yes, many jacks will need to be duplicated in both audio and banana jacks. The four Quadrature outputs will need both jack types but the CV inputs to the morphing can remain banana for example. On the FM inputs, the AC coupled FM Input will be a miniphone jack (for audio) while the DC coupled Input will be a Banana (for CV) and so on. We've always prided ourselves in the fact that all of the numerous functions of modulations and outputs on the Zeroscillator work simultaneously, but in orderto constrain all of the ZO's functions into a single width Buchla format module we may have to add some rotary switches in order to save space, for example replacing the Sine, Triangle, Pulse, Saw, and Reverse Saw Output Jacks with a single output jack and a rotary switch to select which one of those waveforms appears at the output, and so on... I appreciate any suggestions on the Buchla designs and definitely like the dual/switchable volts to the octave Input idea. I think that getting everything to fit into a standard Buchla housing (called a "Boat"which is like a very shallow SixPac enclosure) I'm presently considering the use of a ~flexible~ circuit board for the 96-pin backplane that services the Zeroscillator cards as a great way to get everything to fit. I've actually been jonesing to use flexible circuit boards for many years, and this might be a good time to go for it. Another thought was to commission the production of some deeper than typical Buchlaesque boats of our own, but in addition to the expense, I don't know how popular they would be? Doing a limited run of extra deep boats might be great for other folks who are doing Buchla style modules, but might not be desirable in the case of the folding cases? We are presently working 16-hour-days, seven days a-week lately getting as many modules out to customers as possible before Christmas, we have two crews assembling the new Sawtooth Animators and we're building and calibrating another wave of new Zeroscillators... When the dust settles and everyone is playing with their new goodies on Christmas day, I'll be playing around with the Buchla style Zeroscillator design as my own special way of relaxing and kicking back. Until then I'm soldering Voltage Controlled Tablas!
