Cyndustries February 2009 Update
2009-02-10 by Cynthia
Howdy one and all! We are back in the saddle after a very difficult period of struggling to make good on some really old back-orders,in fact even Psycho Shift Registers have been shippingagain at long last. (If you haven't gotten yours, expect one in the mail soon if you ordered one!) The past two or three weeks have been especially challenging because my Mother had a serious medical emergency and I dropped almost everything to be with her daily at the hospital. It was discovered that she had an aneurysm or balloon in her aorta, the major vascular highway feeding the whole lower half of her body... Had it burst, she would have died instantly, and being the only person here for her in this world, her care temporarily took priority in my life above everything else. I am happy to report that after a battery of doctor visits, x-rays, cat scans, blood tests, cardiologists, five hours of major abdominal surgery, in-home nurse and physical therapist visits, and even more doctors visits today and tomorrow.... she is recovering excellently, and will be enjoying far more robust health now. Most of the Quad Low Pass Gates have shipped along with many other modules already however, if you also ordered an Anything Module, it is possible that your other items were on hold waiting for the Anything Modules to be completed. I'm very happy to report thatafter finally getting back to the soldering irons, Albert and I had a very productive weekend getting all of the Anything Modules done at last!! This is turning out to be a wonderful time with my Mother recovering well, and products flowing out the door to happy customers again! No doubt, I will have missed ~something~ some whereof an order or two, I'm only human, and due to the great drop in the economy - I'm working mainly by myself these days. All that I ask is that people please contact me Privately in any of these instances, and give me a chance to react. If you are cool with us, we will be cool right back at ya', however be warned, I am not a puppy dog with those who might choose to screw with us; there are one or two out there who have cried foul in a big way on the web - while trying to work us behind the scenes. (There are a lot of scammers out there). A great Thank You to the majority of you, all of our wonderful customers, as you surely know we truly could not have made it here without you! A couple of months ago I stated that we've almost shipped every single back-order that was outstanding and in a few more weeks that will be complete. This milestone in our seven year history will be causefor much celebration and we will be focusing specifically now on Zeroscillator orders including Paul's custom Dual ZOWI in Wiard format, and all of the very patient Buchla format ZOe customers. I had set February 15th Saint Valentine's Day as a goal to get these done, however the sudden slowing in sales here during these past couple of months, and my Mother's medical emergency have rendered that date moot quite beyond my control. I think we all know here that I have have a lot to learnabout accurate schedule forecasting on the shipping of modules, (an understatement) so I won't offer any expected shipping times except to say that we have hit the ground running again full of renewed energy and optimism which is half the battle after all, lol! We have already shipped over (400) Zeroscillators! (I know, I know, except ~yours~ it will soon). Mark Barton and I have continued jamming on some great new module designs, however Mark and Sabrena and Iare carefully weighing the economy vs the amount of orders (cash flow) coming in, and it is not exactly the ideal time for me to bet the entire farm on the next module release, so caution may prevail for a short while longer. (Frankly it's taking every cent I have to get through this maze of electronic parts, shipping expenses, and doctor visits :) We had some pretty rough press on the lists in the pastcouple months and I would like to point out that we've survived some pretty big surprises such as the Sawtooth Animator circuit board errors (our first surface mount type module), and the loss and recovery of our Low Pass Gate boards and panels. It seems that each time we have reached up to "get more professional" in one way or another that we have gotten burned bigtime. Many little companies such as ours could have easily collapsed, however we have been doing this for about seven years now and we do not plan on quitting any time soon. I've personally made good on all of these episodes making sure that everyone has gotten their modules come rain or shine or what may. For the time being we have suspended our outside vendors and have pulled everything back in-house which will improve throughput now that we do not have these insane thirty-thousand dollar assembly bills to pay before we get a single circuit board, which means we can build as needed and then ship much quicker! Two years ago we added a dealer to represent us and this has been a mixed experience as well, it was mainly so that we would have a partner to helpus with these massive up-front expenses, howeverafter the dust seems to have settled over the recent "Battle of Pomona" and resulting Dealership Wars, I think we may prefer to go it alone in the future, (unless someone wakes-up and finally starts returning my phone calls... ) Assembling a modular synthesizer system requires a certain level of commitment from customers, and hopefully everyone will observe that I am willing to work myself as-hard-as- it-takes to match their commitment at this end. Like the Royal Mounted Police police might say... Everyone always gets their modules! We have a new Leader in the world, and new hopes and opportunities to move the country and our little company forward in great positive sweeping ways. We will keep up our end of this bargain and this year you will certainly not be disappointed. You made the right decision with us, and will continue to prove it to you over and over again. I thank everyone for their support! With greatest sincerity and respect, Cynthia Webster http://www.cyndustries.com/
