Re: Quarterly ZOe inquiry

We took delivery of the batch of (50) ZO Engine Boards.
They've been drawn and quartered on the shear. After
they were ground down on a 12" inch disc sander to
allow docking of the 96-pin right angle connectors, and
inspected, they were cleaned with compressed air, and the
part stuffing has begun. Albert has all (200) of these
quartered boards and continues stuffing this very evening.

This operation will realize the four engine boards for each
ZOe. I'm trying like mad to stay ahead of Albert ordering
parts as quickly as he is soldering them.

While waiting for parts to arrive, and waiting for all of the
boards to return, I have found a little time to devote to
marketing and have been sending request for photographs
to anyone who has ever ordered a Zeroscillator.
If anyone wishes to participate, please send in a photo.
The sooner the better because my turn at working all of
these boards round the clock will start shortly when Albert
is done with his part, (we work back & forth like this).

Shortly we will repeat the process on the next wave of a
different ZOe circuit board designed to support all of the
components of the Buchla format front panels.

Speaking of front panels... after machining a custom silk
screening jig, having them sheared, clear anodized, and
silk screened... all of the blue silkscreened panel graphics
started rubbing right off the panels into our hands, gak!

They now have to be acid bathed or some such procedure
and re-silkscreened. So now the panels are headed back
to be silkscreened a second time!

We have spent thousands of dollars on parts specific to
the Buchla format ZOe already and we are not completely
done yet, meanwhile the economic engine of the world
has slowed down while we continue to zero-in on our
target. Regardless of these distractions - we're always
moving forward and keeping level heads.

We are at the very minimum a month away from shipping.

These setbacks have been a little embarrassing, we could
have simply compromised on the details in order to
ship more quickly, but these modules have my name on
them, I feel they are part of modular history, and they will
 not ship until completely ready.

We intend on having owners beaming with pride that they
were smart enough or perhaps brave enough to order one
of our special edition liquid-smooth all-analog ZOe Buchla
format Zeroscillators. I sincerely hope, and do believe that
they will be as coveted by 200e series owners - as the
original Bode Frequency Shifters are by Moog owners.

You may notice that out of great respect for Don Buchla
we do not have a web page dedicated to selling the ZOe
and we have no handy Paypal ordering buttons on the site
to accommodate quick decisions. Instead each sale is the
resut of an inquiry and direct communication about this
limited run of only (36) ZOE units total; (17) of these are
already sold. It should evident that we are not going into
the Buchla clone business or storming the walls at Berkeley.

These are very very special Zeroscillators and will be our
only Buchla module offering ever, so better order a few
more before they're all gone, lol!

Thanks for checking-in!

Cynthia

Quarterly ZOe inquiry

2009-09-22 by Chris Muir

So... it's about time for my roughly quarterly inquiry into the status
of the ZOe.

Anything to report?

Thanks,
