If you're familiar with a Minimoog, you'll do just fine on a modular!

Tabla = Percussion Rhythms
Tanpura = Droning Tones

Very little system infrastructure is required to get a VC Tabla going
as they have internal amplifiers of their own and merely need a
Power Supply and some sort of enclosure such as an aluminum SixPac.

The real fun however starts when you patch interesting combinations
of other modules in your system the Tabla module. For example,
you can use other modules such as LFOs or Envelopes, Comparators,
or Logipacs to control the speed, pitch, volume, and the
stopping & starting of the VC Tabla.

The opposite is equally amusing as the Tabla module pulse outputs
are able control other modules in your system, such as Dividers,
ADSRs, Gate Sequencers, Burst Generators, and Oscillators, and that
doesn't even include the myriad of things you can do with the Tablas
audio output, such as running the beats into our wicked filters, or the
Modcan Super Delay module, or Flanger!

Unique among modules however is the Tabla's ability to play all by
itself, using only a speaker and Power Supply. You can play all the
different taals and fascinating rhythmic combinations and vary pitch
by hand, but the fun is greater and the results quite unique when you
let the other modules interact with it.

After designing the prototype for our voltage controlling of an
"off the shelf" digital Tanpura and converting it into a module,
the manufacturer in Bangor radically changed their design and
this required us to ditch the first prototype we did and design
another completely different interface based upon different
technology. It is for this reason that we suspended Tanpura module
sales for the time being, and converted all Tanpura orders -
into VC Tabla module orders instead. 

We have Voltage Controlled Tabla circuit board sets in stock
and finally got a batch of new Tabla panels from the machine shop
so another round of Tablas will be shipping soon!
