Zerocillator noob question

Zerocillator noob question

2006-12-29 by x_brio

I've hooked up the beginners patch from the manual, and the FM index
knob doesn't seem to do anything. The manual implies that changing
the index will be a mindblowing experience. So far, the main changes
happen when I accidentally move the neighboring Linear FM knob.

What am I doing wrong? I have bias=high, range=high, thru zero=off
and I am using the sine output.

Any other suggestions of cool things to try would be appreciated.

Something must go into the INDEX jack for the FM Depth control to open
up (to work),
also open-up the knob above the INDEX jack. Listen to the SINE or
TRIANGLE Output.

Now for the FM Index to actually Index something, you must also provide
an input to be
Indexxed and that would be an Audio signal from another VCO into the
Dyncamic AC FM Input Jack.

Also, the BIAS, THRU-ZERO, & RANGE Switches must also be in the UP
Position.

Experiment with Your Envelope Generator outputs into the INDEX Input,
but audio must
be at either ~Dynamic~ FM Inputs for it to work, (Or Control voltages
into the DC FM Input
Jack as well).

Happy Hunting!

I';m afraid that we ran out of manuals last week and if anyone didn't
get one
please contact us next week. Thanks! There are also a handful of ZOs that
have not shipped yet, (Blacet format mainly) and we'll be shipping them
next
week as well, we simply ran out of time. We also have manyDotcom
format Zeroscillators
now in stock.

i did the same thing you did...because that's what the
manual says...
the lin FM should be dynamic ac instead

Hope this helps

Josh

I just got my zerooscillator in my .com portable cabinet yesterday
after receiving the kit to make it fit and it rules so hard!

at first I did the same thing (patch into linear fm input not the
dynamic) but still sound ruled, then realized the index wasnt doign
anything and looked this info up, godddmmnn that dounds messed up!.

also tried patching another osc. in the expotential input, at the same
time, sick!

this thing goes miles and miles beyond a regular oscillator.

one weird thing is that when I had it patch into linear fm input and I
had the pulse or triangle output (cant remember which) I noticed that
moving around the morph knobs and switches radically changed the sound
of the output, isnt this only suppose to happen at the quadrature
outputs? if not whats the normal position of the knobs and quadrature
switch?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
