more banana frac modues...

2007-07-11 by david rothbaum

Hi,

I am selling some more of my banana frac modules -- all of them actually. I want to sell
this as a system for the sake of simplicity. I am selling it for $2600 including shipping.
Why am i selling? Well, it is a rather longish answer, but mainly i prefer the idea of using a
smaller set-up (right now i am using a small portable euro rack system). plus i need the
money, simple enough I suppose...

There are many custom things i did which i will explain in detail, but please feel free to
write me if you have any questions.

here is a link to some pictures:

a quick list of modules top to bottom left to right:
noise ring / time machine / osc / osc / micro lfo / quad vca
borg filter / boogie filter / motm ladder filter / neural agonizer / bananalogue 3p

and here are some explanatory notes plus a list of modules etc:

I built the wood case. Please note that i am NOT a very good craftsman when it comes to
making cases etc. that said, this case and the others that preceded it look okay and more
importantly are quite durable and sturdy, having survived many gigs, car rides, plane rides
etc. it is made out of home depot walnut (i think) and i put 1 layer of lacquer on it. But as
you can see it does not line up all that great and the edges are off etc... it is 10" deep and
12" tall (not including the rubber feet or the 2 large reverb tanks attached to the back). Of
course you can ditch this case and put all this stuff in the standard rack. ( i made it
because it is MUCH smaller than the same amount of modules in the standard frac rack
cases). all of the modules are internally mounted to a small strip of wood. There is one
blacet power supply inside along with one PSCONN. the hole on the side is for the power
cord, which fits pretty snugly.

I will also include a ton of banana cables and a few custom made banana to 1/8" converter
cables i made for the jacks that were not converted.

WIARD:
1) noise ring
(the chance input jack does not work as designed. since this was one of my first banana
conversions i was unsure of how to deal with switching jacks! and so since the chance
input is/was switching i simply did not convert it properly and it is just connected to the
main output, which of course is totally silly. the proper conversion can be done by rewiring
it with a switch as i did on quite a few modules after this one. I just never got around to
completing this one).
2) boogie filter
3) borg filter

BLACET:
4) oscillator
5) oscillator
6) time machine
7) quad vca
(this one is probably the funkiest. First of all the main output has been
converted to a 1/4" jack. secondly none of the CV jacks are connected and the alt output
had been changed to work as a banana to 1/8" converter. So this module now functions as
a basic 4 to1 mixer with gain on the 4th channel).
8) micro lfo
(the rate & gate inputs as well as the two outputs at the bottom left of the
module were not converted to banana jacks -- this is because the plugs are mounted to
the boards)

MOTM:
9) ladder filter

BANANALOGUE
10) 3-P

TELLUN:
11) neural agonizer (this is a custom built module i built myself. The panel i designed
using
front panel express to fit the frac format. there were a few switching jacks that i did not
convert for the sake of simplicity. as with the noise ring, one could add switches to these
to make them banana if you want to. Another important thing with this module is that the
boards were designed to work with a MOTM sized system so they are quite large (there are
two for this module). and so the way i did it was to NOT mount the boards to the panel at
all but simply screw it to the bottom of the case. You can do this to one of the Blacet frac
racks if you want using standoffs which is how i did it before i made the wood case. The
module uses the two very large 3 spring accutronics reverb tanks that are mounted on the
back of the case.

Anyway please email me if you have any questions. david@davidrothbaum.com

Local pick-up is fine and if you live in the L.A. area you are welcome to come by and check
it out too. I will take paypal or cash if you are local.

thanks,
