hi cynthia / mark is this going to be a new product or just a one-off custom? cheers

Hi Richard! We're completing this unit as an experiment... We have front panels to make some more of these, and if there is more interest in it we can make more. Aside from Thomas Henry and a couple others, I don't really know of anyone else who uses 19 inch panels for their modules, so I haven't really anticipated much demand for a single-height rack-mount ZO... Of course I would love to be proven wrong, lol! Shagghie and I were just discussing the idea as a lark over dinner after the NAMM show and I did a quick sketch on a napkin for him, and it was a big surprise that he actually wanted one, so seeing this as a worthy engineering challenge, I accepted. I must admit that the thought of producing the Zeroscillator in yet another panel format was appealing as a chance to raise the bar for the record books... To my knowledge, no other finished synthesizer module has ever been released in ~six~ modular formats. (I don't think Mark Barton has seen this one yet so he may be in for a surprise and have a good chuckle over it thinking that I've completely lost my mind :) On the other hand, I would love to do Arp 2500 and Aries Modular version of the ZOs too! Oh Yes, I would also take great delight in making some Buchla format Zeroscillators too, (as if there aren't enough jacks on the front panels already, they would require duplication of some of the jacks in both miniphone and banana so they'd be pretty intense!) Cyn Let's get a run of Buchla flavored Zeroscillator going, any takers? Cynthia wrote:

Is there any chance there could be a 1u version with banana jacks? and cynthia, did you get my last email from the other week which I resent once your email was back up & running? cheers --- In The_Cyndustries_List@yahoogroups.com, "Cynthia" <cynthia.webster@...> wrote:

I'm definitely interested. Could you squeeze it into a normal Buchla panel width, or would it have to be a double wide module? -C At 10:57 AM -0800 11/21/07, Cynthia Webster wrote: >Oh Yes, I would also take great delight in >making some Buchla format Zeroscillators too, >(as if there aren't enough jacks on the front panels >already, they would require duplication of some >of the jacks in both miniphone and banana so >they'd be pretty intense!) > >Cyn > >Let's get a run of Buchla flavored Zeroscillator >going, any takers? -- Chris Muir | "There are many futures and only one status quo. cbm@well.com | This is why conservatives mostly agree, http://www.xfade.com | and radicals always argue." - Brian Eno

Hi Chris! It'll definitely be a double-width as there are normally (22) jacks on a ZO and I'm in the process at the moment of determining which of these need to be duplicated in ~both~ banana and miniphone types of jacks on it? So far I'm using the stock Blacet format ZO boards for inspiration, but anything is possible, (turning the boards sideways?) Another consideration is the shallow depth of the boats (enclosures) for the Buchlas as the older ones are quite shallow. I think the newer boats are slightly deeper? Also looking at all of the knobs that might work and sourcing the others. Quite a challenge, but fun! I did a rough sketch layout for a Triple Sawtooth Animator in a single Buchla format panel and it was a good warm-up before attempting to nail the Buchla design ethic. (I just uploaded two versions of these with different knobs to the "Photos"section of this user's group in the Album labeled "Module Ideas"). We'll make a handful of these modules in Buchla format too, (note the six blue LFO outputs as opposed the the usual three). http://www.cyndustries.com/modules_sawtooth.cfm The Zeroscillator layout is the next Buchla-esque project in the pipeline, I didn't really plan to do this, but there have been some requests. Best Wishes! Cynthia Chris Muir wrote:

No doubt you've seen Richard Lainhart's page and noticed what modules he uses: http://www.otownmedia.com/he/buchla.htm#video Should the "bank makes error in my favor-collect $20K USD".... the module that captures my imagination more than any offered for the 200e is the 222e Multi-Dimensional Kinesthetic Input. What a thrill that would be to control in realtime rather than using a standard keyboard !! (hint..hint)

is that sawtooth animator gonna make it on other formats (eurorack,.com,motm) like originally announced? looks good but need euro or motm :)! Hi Carlos! Well, to answer your question, as a matter of fact... YES. Which would you like, Motm format, or Euro? (because very soon you can have ~both~ :) Stay tuned.... Cynthia Carlos wrote:

Hi Richard! I've always wanted one of those Lumina Marimbas to play and I'm not even a percussionist, lol! The mini Thunder keyboard is also totally cool and it looks like they've incorporated the same RFID type technology used on the Marimba mallets into a pair of rings that can we worn by performers. What really makes me drool however are the Haken Continuum keyboards and their MIDI interfaces http://www.hakenaudio.com/Continuum/ I play improvisational piano for about twenty minutes every day on a Yamaha P-90 and absolutely love the weighted keyboard action. The ultimate to me would be to mount a full length Continuum right above it, and have an eight bus output mixer on a roll-out drawer underneath the whole lot. I'll have to check out the Lexicon website sometime for more info on that rack mount surround reverb too! Best Wishes!
