I have a external 640MB optical drive which works flawlessly w/ EMU samplers and 640MB media,- but not w/ S-1000/ S-1100 and 640MB media !
With S-1000 and S-1100, the drive works w/ the 230MB medias I have here.
It´s by reason 230 MB optical media is formattet 512k and 640MB media has a different formatting.
You cannot re-format optical media w/ S-1000 series samplers.
To be sure your 640MB drive works, 1st test it w/ media not larger than 530MB and externally w/ S-1xxx series samplers.
How to get in a S-1000 HD:
Iassume, your internal HD is connected to the IB-103 internal SCSI connector.
In this case, there´s no other SCSI connector available internally.
You cannot use 2 SCSI controller cards in the S-1xxx.
If the size of your optical drive fits the slot and dimensions of your floppy drive, you could throw it in, but eventually have to decide to remove the internal HD and use that SCSI connector for your optical drive.
Use the same SCSI HD in this case.

Hi all
I just want to know, is it possible to put internal SCSI Magneto-Optical drive in Akai S1000HD? Does it work for someone? Drive is 640 MB MO SCSI (50 pin standard internal connector).
thanks
