Akai S1000 / S1100 samplers

Hey Guys,

Just introducing myself.  A few weeks back I picked up two Akai samplers.  An S1000HD and an S1100.  These had been sitting in a pawn shop for some time and the price was insanely low.  Anyhow, both units backlights were dim so I purchased a few from an English company on ebay, which turned out to be a great product.  I just finished replacing them yesterday and both units are working as normal except for...

The S1100 has 4 x 8MB cards yet the machine only sees half of the RAM (16MB).  I tried removing each card and sure enough all cards are registering as 4MB each.  I checked the DIP switches and they are as they should be 1/2 ON, 3/4 OFF.  I also ran the hardware test and all banks came up as fine.  The unit's OS ROM is v1.01.  Is this early version of the OS causing the problem?
