I just got an old Apple 600e CD-ROM which has been quoted to work with the S1000 units. I have brand new SCSI 50 pin to 50 pin Centronics cables hooked up between the CD Rom and my S1000PB. I put a sample CD in that the guy I bought it from burned of the 4.40 software and some samples on it and I can't get the damn thing to read it. I set the SCSI ID channels for the S1000 and CD Rom to different channels, like the manual said and it doesn't work. I read the manual and it doesn't help with SCSI utilies outside of Internal Hard Disk and SCSI MIDI functions. Is the S1000 supposed to automatically recognized the CD or do I have to go through another soft key menu? The guy I bought it from had the SCSI card installed and used it with a CD ROM and said the whole rig worked fine. I think I'm just screwing something up. Do I have to use a terminator on the CD ROM? I admit that I know squat about SCSI hardware. Could it be the CD or the SCSI card? I'm getting a factory Akai format CD of samples in the mail soon and I want to make sure I can load those samples.
