Akai S1000 / S1100 samplers

hello. I'm a producer from australia, i've had an S1000 for about a
month. it's going well but i'd like to update the OS as it's only 1.0
on the eprom (so no time stretch). So i got the 4.x update from
akaipro.com. i'm using windows 2000. the program has an error,
something about hard disk access, then after a long time it finishes.
it seems like its writing to the disk. nothing is on the disk, and it
won't read in the sampler. i've tried it with pc formatted and s1000
formatted disks and i'm still getting nowhere!
so, my question is, what is the problem here? the floppy disk? does it
have to be done via DOS? I've searched the posts on here and havnt
found anything regarding this.
