I got my SCSI cables on e-Bay from the following e-Bay shops: mountcomp (Mount Road Computers) and bioteknik (BioTekNik Computer Science). Add them to your favourite sellers list and something will come up soon, Im sure.

Look no further, its the cable. I tried a serial cable once (it was cheaper than a SCSI cable at Staples and looked the same, so I thought itd do the trick) but it never worked. I guess the internal wiring is different. Get a proper SCSI cable, theres plenty on eBay, thats where I got mine from.

hi!
its just one scsi zip drive I am connecting, the scsi ids are as they should be,it works fine on the s1000.
I am totally new to s3000xl,s
The 25 pin scsi on the back of s3000xls is where I have tried to connect it.
It could be two things I think
1.The 25pin male to 25 pin male cable I have used to connect the sampler and zip drive isnt scsi, but a serial or parrellel cable, that just happens to fit
2.This scsi out is used for connecting to a pc?
Do you know of a website for how to connect stuff to the s3000xl,including those internal ports, and where to take the power from?thanks

I had a similar problem years ago with my old S2000. It turned out to be the cable.
Youve checked the SCSI IDs havent you? Is your Zip drive terminated? I seem to remember there was a termination on/off switch on the back of mine.
When you say connected mi iomega zip drives, nothing,it wont see them , do you mean you connected them both at the same time?
If so, try the zip drives one at a time and see if they work. If you connect both, make sure that only the one on the end of the SCSI chain is terminated.
Two drives can be a problem, incidentally: I have an S2800i connected to a hard drive and a CD-ROM player. It will happily read from both, but if I am to write to the HD, I must switch off the CD player first or it wont save.

hello everybody, well mi s3000xls turned up
Yes thats right,two of them!
loaded up the memory, still works, connected mi iomega zip
drives, nothing,it wont see them....bugger,works fine on the s1000
I connected it from the scsi port on the back, with a 25 pin male to 25
pin male cable to zip drive, could it be the cable do you think?
The other one from s1000 connected via a cetronics setup, off the scsi
card....any thoughts welcome.....
One tip from me,one of the s3000xls had the display badly scratched,so
I lightly sanded the plastic display with fine sand paper,to get the
scrathes out, then polished with brasso, and finally burning cream,no
scratches...looks like new!!
