Good Morning all :) I recently got a non working Akai S1000HD and I'm trying to resurrect it. I have some questions, if you can answer even one of it, you're going to help me a lot :) Bad thing about this poor sampler is that's really beaten and doesn't work at all, it powers up but nothing happens. All the frontal lights are on, a high pitched sound comes from "I'm not sure where" and the fan works. It could be anything.. A bad IC, bad power supply, corrupted eproms.. I've a lot of work in front of me :) Although it's an S1000HD the SCSI controller is missing, the guy who gave me the sampler is searching for it, but for now I'll have to live without it. So, should the sampler be able to work without it using the built it floppy drive? (Well, that's if the floppy is still alive). Is the floppy drive an standard PC unit? I've a Casio FZ-1 and it uses a 1.6MB drive, so who knows.. It was a surprise to me to see that this unit was modified by an old user. At first I tough it was an old repair work, but I think that in fact someone made something to improve or customize the unit for his needs, because he closed some switches, cut some tracks deliberately and added some wires under and below the board, some wired to the leg of some ICs. I've been searching for information about S1000 mods but I've found nothing. Does anyone know about S1000 tweaks? In theory those tweaks worked before the unit died, as the guy who gave it to me didn't know anything about it and he bought it second hand a lot of years ago. I'm very curious about this issue :) The operating system written in the stickers at the top of the EPROMS is 2.1, I'll try to dump it if it can be useful to anyone. I already downloaded the 4.4 version from Akai's homepage to burn it if the sampler comes to life again. This machine looks really nice, so I would love to be able to repair it. If I'm unable to fix it I think I'll try to get another non working unit to mix both to make it work :) Does anyone have a non working unit there? I'm in search of the schematics, too. Thanks a lot in advance :) Manu
