Akai S1000 / S1100 samplers

seems my honeymoon is already over...

i turned on the s1000pb this evening to test out the new cdrom disc 
i just bought and the main screen doesn't come on.  the unit appears 
to boot, the led under the 'prog select' button comes on, but 
nothing happens.  all the buttons under the screen, when pressed, do 
nothing.

so, i take out the scsi card (i thought it might be an idea!) and, 
ooooo, the unit boots, the buttons under the screen work but the 
screen itself still stays blank.

i put the scsi card back in & the buttons & screen don't work again.

maybe the fried scsi card took something else out?

does this sound familiar to anyone?


for the $30 it cost me it might be worth selling for parts...  
that'd be a shame though!
